Summary

Neil has reported four separate issues / feature requests after using the planetary maps and multi-star generation features.

1. Planetary Map Zoom — Too Fast and Off-Centre

Problem: When scrolling in to view the planetary maps, the zoom "flies off to one side" far too quickly, especially with large systems. Users are constantly having to re-centre the view.

Expected behaviour:

  • Slower, more controllable zoom speed.
  • Zoom should centre on the cursor position (mouse-wheel zoom-to-cursor) rather than the screen centre or some arbitrary offset.

Affected view: Planetary maps (system viewer).

2. World Rename Not Reflected on Planetary Maps

Problem: If a world is renamed, the new name does not appear on the planetary maps. The map continues to show the old / generated name.

Expected behaviour: Renaming a world should immediately update its label on the planetary map.

3. Right-Click to Edit Planet / Moon Details on Map

Feature request: It would be useful to right-click on planets and moons directly in the map to alter their details.

Current behaviour: The map lists generic labels such as "Terrestrial Moon" or "Dwarf" instead of the assigned custom names.

Expected behaviour:

  • Context menu on right-click for map bodies.
  • Option to open the detail editor for that body.
  • Map labels should show custom names when they exist.

4. Secondary Star in Distant Orbit — No Planets and No Method to Add Them

Problem: A system was generated with a second star in a distant orbit. The second star did not have any planets, and there was no visible method for adding them.

Expected behaviour:

  • Secondary stars should either generate with their own planetary systems automatically, or
  • There should be a UI affordance (e.g. "+ Add Planet" button, context menu, or edit mode) to manually add planets to any star in the system.

Next Steps

  • Investigate zoom event handling in the system viewer / map renderer.
  • Check whether the planetary map component receives reactive name updates from the world data store.
  • Design right-click interaction for map bodies (context menu or direct edit).
  • Review multi-star generation logic — ensure companion stars run planet generation, or expose manual-add UI.
